An automobile battery is a type of rechargeable battery that supplies the electric energy to the automobile. It produces the power to turn over the starter, all of the lights, the vehicle's ignition system. If you accidentally leave your lights or switch on when the vehicle is not running it can drain your battery. In most cases the battery can be recharged. In some cases you can jump the vehicle off using another car's battery. If you are able to get it started the alternator will charge the battery back up. Always be careful if you do jump start the vehicle and make sure you do not get the positive and negative sides mixed up because it can cause a battery to explode. You can also damage the vehicle's ECM by jumping your car or truck off so make sure you take all precautions.
